What to Include in Your RFQ

Set the material identification and grade verification expectations at the first quotation stage.

  • Hardox® 500 Tuf plate grade and thickness
  • Width × length and order quantity
  • Original producer documentation and plate identification
  • Cutting drawings where applicable
  • Destination port and packing requirements
Supply confirmation is based on genuine SSAB-origin material and verifiable purchase documentation.
IMPACT & HARDNESS

Impact Toughness by Thickness

For this grade, the guaranteed transverse impact-test temperature depends on the thickness of the supplied material.

Plate thicknessGuaranteed transverse Charpy V impact
6.0–8.0 mm27 J at −40°C
8.1–38.1 mm27 J at −20°C
Plate impact testing applies from 6 mm thickness; reduced-size Charpy specimens follow the SSAB data sheet where appropriate. These values refer to the specified transverse test route.

Hardness & Core Performance

SSAB specifies Brinell hardness of 475–505 HBW, measured according to its product test method. Its through-hardened wear plate has a core-hardness guarantee expressed relative to the minimum surface hardness.

The 1370 MPa yield and 1600 MPa tensile figures describe typical performance; contractual acceptance follows SSAB’s expressly guaranteed properties and the ordered documentation.

Manufacturer source: SSAB Hardox® 500 Tuf product data. The ordered thickness, producer’s current documentation and test method govern final acceptance.

Silicon (Si)≤ 0.70%
Manganese (Mn)≤ 1.60%
Phosphorus (P)≤ 0.020%
Sulfur (S)≤ 0.010%
Chromium (Cr)≤ 1.50%
Nickel (Ni)≤ 1.50%
Molybdenum (Mo)≤ 0.60%
Boron (B)≤ 0.005%

Carbon Equivalent by Plate Thickness
