The cold-formed section standard, incoming coated steel grade and structural design code address different requirements. Include the applicable editions in your project specification.
Current cold-formed structural steel sections standard, effective March 2026. GB/T 6725-2017 also covers general requirements for cold-formed sections.
Cold-rolled section technical delivery, cross-sectional and dimensional tolerances. EN 1090-4:2018 covers execution of cold-formed structural elements.
Specifications for continuously hot-dip coated steel flat products before roll forming; the structural grade and coating designation must match your order.
Metallic-coated sheet and strip requirements. State the specified G-grade, metallic coating type and project design conditions.
Structural design of cold-formed members and sheeting. Member resistance depends on geometry, local buckling and restraint details.
North American cold-formed structural member design specification, separate from the sheet material procurement standard.
Standards are reference paths for specifying products and projects. Final acceptance uses the exact regional standard, design document and supplier-issued test records agreed for your order.
Match strength and corrosion protection to the building environment and engineering schedule. Coating class and base-metal thickness should appear separately on the purchase order.
Cold-formed C and Z members carry cladding and transfer loading to main structural frames. Your engineer specifies spacing, bridging and connection arrangements for the project.
Z purlins may be lapped over interior supports; C profiles are also used according to span and frame layout. Include lap lengths, bracing and roof-sheet details.
Cold-formed channels support wall cladding and form secondary framing at industrial workshops, warehouses and agricultural buildings.
Secondary framing matched to column-grid layout and roof specification.
C and Z sections with coating protection and practical member schedules.
Wall girts, roof members and structural supports for cladding packages.
Complete framing schedules help prevent mismatched members at installation. Send the drawing for each mark together with its required section dimensions.
Confirm clear spans, support positions and design loading from the engineer's framing plan.
Specify the lap detail and location at internal supports where continuous construction is designed.
Provide bolt sizes, center-to-center distances, end distances and orientation drawings.
Identify any restraints, tie bars and accessories required by the project drawings.
Estimate purlin weight from section geometry for early purchasing, or enter the supplier-confirmed kg/m for your exact profile. Multiply unit mass by length and quantity to plan total tonnage.
120 pieces × 6 m = 720 linear metres
The geometry method uses a simplified folded thin-wall centerline and 7,850 kg/m³ steel density. It excludes accurate bend allowances, coating mass, punched holes and individual mill tolerances. Use a confirmed section weight for purchasing and freight commitments.
Work with a steel supplier that coordinates material sourcing, section forming, quality requirements and export scheduling against your project order.
Company-wide steel production supports planned and recurring procurement programs.
Explore manufacturing ↗Company-wide stock helps material planning; each finished purlin size, grade and lead time is checked per RFQ.
View inventory approach ↗Agree finished section dimensions, hole positions, coating and traceable material records before production.
Quality controls ↗Coordinate project marks, lengths, quantities, loading conditions and shipping requirements.
Coated steel strip is prepared for profile forming, checked against section settings and cut to the ordered length. Hole punching and other processing are reviewed against the project drawing.
Submit the full steel list by member mark. We will check the required substrate, forming route, production window and transport plan for your specified C and Z sections.
State the inspection level and acceptance standard before ordering. Section conformity involves more than overall depth: flange width, lip geometry, bend shape and punching are also inspected.
For mixed sections and lengths, a detailed packing plan helps the receiving team identify each building zone. Share your destination port, handling constraints and marking instructions.
Combine purlin enquiries with hot-rolled structural sections and coated steel material requirements for your building project.
C purlins use a channel-shaped cross section with flanges facing the same side. Z purlins have offset flanges and may be detailed as lapped, continuous roof members. The project designer selects member size and support connections.
Specify section type, web depth, flange width, return lip, base-metal thickness, finished length, grade, coating class, hole positions, pieces by mark and delivery port.
Provide an approved hole schedule with diameter, pitch and edge distances. Punching feasibility and tolerance are confirmed for your selected section and order quantity.
For purchase quantities, multiply confirmed section kg/m by member length and quantity. The calculator above also provides an approximate geometric weight while your exact section data is being reviewed.
State the coated coil material standard, grade and coating type/class such as S350GD+Z275 under EN 10346, where required by the project. Other regional specifications can be reviewed with your RFQ.
Load capacity, spacing, lateral restraint and lap length are engineering design decisions. Share the project drawings and approved member schedule so the order can match those requirements.
Send your required grade, dimensions, quantity and destination. Our team will review the inquiry.
