430 is different from cold-work-hardenable austenitic grades. For demanding bends, draws or welded fabrication, provide the finished-part design and required test method.
A coil can look similar in its polished condition while its microstructure, magnetic response and corrosion behavior are materially different.
430 has a ferritic iron-chromium structure and normally attracts a magnet. Annealed 304 is mainly austenitic and normally has a much lower magnetic response, although cold working can change it.
For moderately corrosive indoor service, 430 offers a practical stainless finish and good fabrication potential. For higher chloride exposure, severe moisture, certain chemicals or demanding welding, a different grade may be necessary.
Useful when a magnetic stainless surface is desirable. Specify guaranteed permeability separately if a technical design requires it.
Appropriate for selected appliance, kitchen and indoor decorative applications when routine cleaning and exposure are compatible.
Rolled edges and uncomplicated forming are common. Welded or deep-drawn parts need the process and any qualification documented.
Choose the mill or decorative finish according to forming, appearance and cleaning conditions. A similar finish name does not guarantee the same visual acceptance across mills.
A common smooth mill finish for appliance internals, metal forming and subsequent finishing. Confirm surface inspection criteria for visible panels.
Bright, reflective finish used in selected decorative and appliance applications. Specify protective film and acceptable cosmetic condition.
Heat-treated and descaled hot-rolled appearance for appropriate gauges and industrial work.
Directional brushed surface for visible panels and trim; provide grain orientation and sample reference.
Qualify surface grade, finish process, protection film and achievable appearance before order.
Share a sample or target finish code, especially for cosmetic applications and repeat contracts.
Detailed procurement information makes the quotation more useful for your slitting, stamping, polishing and transport requirements.
Specify Type 430 / UNS S43000, the applicable edition of ASTM A240/A480 or your separately agreed EN specification.
List gauge, ordered width, tolerance category, mill or slit edge, coil ID, and maximum permissible individual net weight.
Set 2B, BA, No. 1, No. 4 or qualified polish. State whether film, paper interleaving or visual inspection is needed.

430 offers an effective stainless grade for selected mildly corrosive indoor environments. Confirm corrosion, cosmetic and forming performance for each final component.
430 is commonly selected where a consistent stainless appearance, general forming performance and practical resistance to mild corrosion are important. Finished-part suitability depends on exposure, cleaning practice, joint design and surface condition.

Panels, trims and selected parts for mild indoor-service conditions, with cleaning and hygiene needs assessed.
Brushed or bright decorative features where grain direction, finish consistency and protection film matter.
Selected low-corrosion-exposure trim, covers and pressed components matched to part drawings.
Slitting, blanking, bending and formed components supplied from coil feedstock.
Repeat supply organized by grade, mill finish, slit width, coil weight and documentation.
Estimate how much strip length a selected coil mass provides for slitting, stamping or inventory planning. Packaging and actual width/thickness deviations are excluded.
Enter nominal dimensions, net steel mass per coil and coil count. The calculator updates automatically using the reference density of 7.70 g/cm³.
Planning estimate using uniform nominal dimensions and net steel mass only. Actual weight depends on production tolerance and weighing.
kg per running metre = thickness (mm) × width (mm) × 0.00770.
Running length (m) = net coil kg ÷ kg per metre.
For consistent downstream processing, specify the material condition and finished surface rather than assuming all 430 coils have the same rolling route.
430 coil can be ordered in cold-rolled or hot-rolled condition. Final finish and temper depend on rolling, heat treatment, surface treatment and any requested polishing.
Chemical composition and grade identity established at material production stage.

Annealing, descaling, finishing and protection planned for the selected surface category.
Coil identification, dimensions, MTC and shipping configuration verified against the order.

For stainless feedstock, confirm that the documentation reflects the actual heat, applicable product standard and delivered coil condition. Magnet response alone cannot identify or certify Type 430.
For accurate delivery planning, specify the exact coil rather than relying on a broad grade-level stock claim.
General company-wide steel inventory figures describe the wider business, not a guarantee of immediate 430 stock. Ask for a specific availability check using the required grade, finish, gauge, width, coil ID and total quantity.
BA, brushed and other appearance-sensitive surfaces benefit from packing details agreed before production release and shipping.
Select packaging based on surface finish, individual coil mass, sea-freight moisture exposure and unloading equipment. Protective measures are confirmed for each shipment.
Compare 430 with 201, 304 and 316L by structure, service conditions, finish and downstream processing.
Answers cover grade selection, magnetism, finish, inspection and shipment planning. Send a technical specification when you need a contract-specific response.
Yes. Standard Type 430 has a ferritic structure and normally has a strong magnetic response. A simple magnet test is not a substitute for grade identification or a material certificate.
430 is a ferritic chromium stainless grade and is normally magnetic. 304 is an austenitic chromium-nickel grade; it generally offers broader corrosion resistance in challenging environments. Choose according to the finished part and exposure.
ASTM A240/A240M covers stainless plate, sheet and strip chemistry and mechanical requirements. ASTM A480/A480M provides general flat-rolled delivery requirements. EN 1.4016 orders should cite their own EN standards.
Typical requests include 2B, BA, No. 1, No. 4 and decorative polishing. Availability depends on thickness, width, coil condition and finishing route.
Welding may be possible, but weld-zone behavior and corrosion resistance require application-specific review. Supply drawings, section thickness and the welding procedure before specifying welded parts.
No. 430 is commonly used in mildly corrosive indoor environments, whereas 316L provides a different alloy system with molybdenum for improved performance in certain corrosive environments. Service suitability must be assessed.
Divide net coil mass in kilograms by thickness (mm) × width (mm) × 0.00770. The 0.00770 constant uses the reference 430 density of 7.70 g/cm³.
Slitting may be arranged subject to feasible width, edge quality, quantity, winding requirements and processing confirmation.
Depending on the agreed inspection document, it may contain grade, heat or batch reference, composition, mechanical results and coil identification. State your required documentation on the RFQ.
BA can offer a bright reflective appearance, but cosmetic acceptance also depends on handling, film protection, visual inspection criteria and finishing consistency.
Share grade, standard, thickness, width, finish, individual coil weight, total tonnage and destination. A quote can then confirm current availability or production lead time.
