The material grade defines acceptance properties. The section designation defines nominal geometry and mass per metre. Your RFQ should name both.
| Market / Section | Material Grade | Dimensions & Mass |
|---|---|---|
| US W-shapes | ASTM A992 | ASTM A6/A6M-26a |
| GB HN / HM / HW | Q355B | GB/T 11263-2024 |
| EN HEA / HEB | S355JR | EN 10365:2026 |
Final section properties, tolerances and quality acceptance follow your specified standard, profile designation and order terms.
Check the section geometry your project requires. Use the designation and dimensions from the relevant structural steel drawing or section table.
A clear end view shows the parallel flanges, web and root fillets of the H section.
Review flange thickness, web thickness, edges and natural hot-rolled finish.
State the complete size designation in your order. Stock availability and requested delivery lengths are checked for the selected grade and section.
American wide-flange designations; mass-per-length is expressed in lb/ft and can be converted for tonnage planning.
Nominal GB/T 11263 H-section families. Include the full section dimensions and theoretical kg/m from the agreed table.
European HE series. Use EN 10365 profile mass and dimensions with the selected structural steel grade.
| Profile | Reference Nominal Mass | Section Family | Weight Estimator |
|---|---|---|---|
| W8×18 | 18 lb/ft ≈ 26.8 kg/m | US W Section | |
| HEA 100 | 16.7 kg/m | EN HE Series | |
| HEB 200 | 61.3 kg/m | EN HE Series |
Sample nominal masses illustrate the calculator. Your purchase specification and the agreed section table determine the actual contractual beam designation and mass.
Estimate the mass of your H beam schedule from section kg/m, length and piece quantity. Use your section table for exact nominal linear weight.
Nominal mass × length × beam count = estimated total mass. Final measurement and commercial weight follow the chosen profile standard and purchase terms.

ASTM A992, Q355B and S355JR are material grades. W8×18, HEA 100 and GB HN/HM/HW series are section designations or families used to define geometry and nominal mass.
Multiply nominal kg/m by beam length in metres and the number of pieces; divide by 1,000 to obtain metric tons. Use the specified section table for the nominal kg/m.
Include your certificate type, heat identification, cutting lengths and drilling drawings with the RFQ. We will confirm the available processing and inspection terms.
Send your required grade, dimensions, quantity and destination. Our team will review the inquiry.
