Send a complete material list so the quotation reflects your actual requirements.
The SSAB dimension program describes available manufacturing forms; the exact material lot and delivery date are confirmed during sourcing.
A single hardness number covers a wide product family; the original plate thickness determines the applicable range.
| Form | Nominal thickness | SSAB hardness reference |
|---|---|---|
| Cold-rolled sheet | 0.8–2.1 mm | 425–475 HBW* |
| Hot-rolled sheet | 2.0–8.0 mm | 425–475 HBW* |
| Wear plate | 3.2–80.0 mm | 425–475 HBW |
| Wear plate | 80.1–103.0 mm | 410–475 HBW |
| Wear plate | 103.1–160.0 mm | 390–475 HBW |
*For sheet thickness below 2.5 mm, SSAB derives tabulated hardness from tensile strength; direct Brinell hardness testing and guarantee are handled according to the original product data.
SSAB specifies the Brinell test according to EN ISO 6506-1 on a prepared surface 0.5–3 mm below the plate face. The delivered plate condition, thickness bracket and original certificate define the applicable acceptance criteria. Impact testing is available as an agreed requirement.
Use the original mill product identification and actual material photographs to check surface condition and finished dimensions.

Send the actual plate thickness, edge condition and cut-piece size schedule.
SSAB publishes distinct maximum contents for hot-rolled sheet and plate versus cold-rolled sheet. Confirm the original heat analysis for the exact ordered form.
| Element | Sheet & plate — maximum | Cold-rolled sheet — maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon C | 0.26% | 0.19% |
| Silicon Si | 0.70% | 0.30% |
| Manganese Mn | 1.60% | 1.50% |
| Phosphorus P | 0.025% | 0.020% |
| Sulfur S | 0.010% | 0.005% |
| Chromium Cr | 1.40% | 0.10% |
| Nickel Ni | 1.50% | 0.10% |
| Molybdenum Mo | 0.60% | 0.05% |
| Boron B | 0.005% | 0.004% |
Values are maximum mass percentages from SSAB Hardox® 450 technical data. Original heat certificates identify the composition of the supplied lot.
