No default tensile minimum
JIS G 3141:2021 does not prescribe a general minimum tensile strength or elongation for plain SPCC designation.

SPCC denotes commercial-quality cold rolled steel. Tight carbon, alloying, weldability, surface or process targets that go beyond the base grade should be listed as additional acceptance criteria in your purchase order.
SPCC and SPCCT are different purchase specifications. State the required temper, surface and acceptance tests instead of relying on an unqualified tensile-strength claim.
JIS G 3141:2021 does not prescribe a general minimum tensile strength or elongation for plain SPCC designation.
Where guaranteed tensile strength and elongation are ordered under SPCCT, a 270 MPa minimum tensile value applies within the specified test conditions.
Specify standard temper (S), as-annealed (A) or hard-temper options by the intended forming and hardness requirements.
| Designation example | Condition | Buyer interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| SPCC-SD | Standard temper (S), dull finish (D) | Common general-purpose designation; verify surface and hardness needs |
| SPCC-SB | Standard temper (S), bright finish (B) | Choose where a smoother surface is appropriate |
| SPCC-A | As-annealed (A) | Application-specific softness and flatness; surface-finish notation follows JIS rules |
| SPCC-8 / -4 / -2 / -1 | 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and full-hard conditions | Hardness/ductility differ; specify the desired temper and tests |
| SPCCT | SPCC with agreed tensile-strength/elongation guarantee | Mechanical acceptance varies with nominal thickness and test conditions |
The visible face of cold rolled coil matters in painting, panel forming and subsequent coating. Specify whether you require a matte dull finish, smooth bright finish or supplementary surface control.
A matte surface generated by controlled work-roll texture; a practical choice for many general sheet-metal applications.
A smoother rolled surface selected where appearance or downstream finishing needs require it.
Accurate dimensions and coil-handling requirements reduce material changeovers and production interruptions at stamping, decoiling and slitting operations.
Specify nominal gauge, permissible thickness variation, width tolerance, camber and edge condition.
Confirm 508 / 610 mm or other required bore, maximum net mass and safe lifting arrangement.
Specify SPCC-SD or -SB as appropriate and define rust-preventive oil and unpacking conditions.
Identify required chemistry, thickness checks, hardness or tensile tests and traceability records.
Include your maximum coil OD, line entry limits, preferred edge and any mandatory testing.
SPCC is used in general sheet-metal fabrication where surface uniformity, dimensional consistency and standard forming capability are important. Select drawing-quality grades when deeper deformation is specified.
Panels, enclosures and housings for household and light industrial equipment.
Cabinet panels, instrument cases and equipment covers.
Shelving, office furniture components and storage units.
Blanking, bending and moderate forming where the agreed temper is suitable.
Substrates for subsequent surface treatment and industrial painting as specified.
Master-coil procurement, slit widths and cut-to-length conversion for fabricators.
Use nominal steel density to estimate running metres per coil, linear mass and shipment net tonnage. This supports slitting plans and quotation discussions.
All values are based on nominal dimensions; coil weight should be entered as net steel mass excluding packing.
Use this estimate when preparing cut-to-length orders, slitting schedules and logistics plans. Confirm actual coil weights and gauge measurements at dispatch.
Cold rolled strip starts from hot rolled coil. Pickling removes surface scale; reduction mills control gauge; annealing restores ductility where required; skin passing helps establish the specified surface and shape.
Finished coils can then be inspected, oiled, slit or recoiled according to the agreed supply route. Each delivered order should be traceable to its material and inspection record.
A useful cold rolled coil purchase starts with consistent specifications, realistic shipment planning and verifiable quality documents.
Company-wide production and inventory resources support steel procurement planning across multiple product families.

Inspection should follow the purchased JIS specification and any additional surface or formability agreement. Define acceptance criteria in the RFQ before material is allocated or processed.
Provide your ordered thickness, finish, width and target shipment date. We can check available material, possible conversion routes and an order-specific delivery window before giving a commercial offer.
Cold rolled coil is sensitive to transit moisture and handling damage. Share destination, transit conditions, coil orientation and receiving equipment so packing can be specified in the quotation.
Compare SPCC with alternative cold rolled forming grades and hot rolled coils. Verify standard-specific requirements before selecting substitutes.
Review the parent steel coil category and request the temper or coating condition you need.
Answers to common questions about JIS SPCC designation, mechanical guarantees, surface finish and international coil orders.
SPCC is a commercial-quality cold-reduced carbon steel grade within JIS G 3141. Confirm the full temper and surface designation when placing the order.
Plain SPCC does not carry a general tensile-strength or elongation minimum under JIS G 3141:2021. A tensile guarantee may be specified through SPCCT with the relevant thickness and specimen conditions.
Both indicate standard temper (S). The final D identifies dull surface finish and B identifies bright surface finish; the required appearance and roughness should be agreed.
They are separate grade designations in different standards. Similar applications do not establish automatic interchangeability; compare chemical, mechanical, surface and drawing requirements before approving a substitution.
SPCC serves general commercial forming. More demanding drawing often calls for a specific drawing grade such as SPCD, SPCE or DC04 with suitable formability requirements.
Share nominal gauge, tolerance, width, inner diameter, preferred net coil weight and quantity. Availability and delivery specifications will be confirmed against actual supply.
Slitting and cut-to-length requests can be reviewed against the selected grade, finish, width, quantity and processing route; include edge-burr limits if critical.
Use nominal thickness (mm) × width (mm) × 0.00785 to get kg/m. Divide the net coil mass in kilograms by kg/m to estimate metres. Final length depends on actual measured dimensions.
