Composition limits are a concise grade reference, not a substitute for the applicable edition and full standard. Your order may require additional product analysis, welding-related review or tighter project chemistry limits.
Reference grade values depend on thickness, product form and the rules of the applicable hot-rolled coil specification.
Grade reference for nominal thickness up to 16 mm under GB/T 700; the applicable thin-strip product rules must also be checked.
GB/T 700 grade reference. Confirm the relevant product thickness and inspection requirement for each purchase order.
Grade B uses a room-temperature impact reference; specimen, thickness and test acceptance should follow the purchase standard.
| Nominal thickness group | Yield-strength reference | Tensile-strength reference | Procurement interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 16 mm | ≥ 235 MPa | 370–500 MPa | GB/T 700 grade reference; check GB/T 3274 provisions for thickness below 3 mm |
| Over 16–40 mm | ≥ 225 MPa | 370–500 MPa | Thicker product reference; this range is more commonly associated with plate than routine HRC |
Choose the surface and edge condition needed for your slitting, forming or fabrication process.
Normal hot rolling typically leaves mill scale on the strip surface. Specify required surface preparation when relevant.
Coil width, camber, edge quality and winding condition matter for downstream feeding and fabrication.
Coil dimensions affect unloading capacity, slitting compatibility, inventory matching and shipping arrangements.
Provide the thickness in mm, tolerance requirement and any downstream bend or forming specification.
Confirm the ordered finished width, edge condition and slit tolerance where applicable.
Share the internal diameter, allowable single-coil mass and line decoiler limits.
Define straps, coil eye orientation, lifting method, destination and moisture protection needs.
Send the coil schedule with quantities and requested delivery conditions.
Q235B HRC is an economical structural carbon steel feedstock for specified forming, cutting and welded fabrication operations.
Hot rolled coil is slit or cut to sheet for selected brackets, base components, equipment frames and formed parts.
Coil feedstock for appropriate roll-forming and electric-resistance-welded products when chemistry and production requirements are met.
Bulk HRC for conversion to sheets, blanks and narrower steel coils.
Machine bases, plates, support structures and formed assemblies.
Specified feedstock for suitable welded tube and pipe production.
Cut and formed components for industrial equipment manufacturing.
Multiple coil sizes consolidated into a procurement schedule.
Coils ordered with specified dimensions, inspection and delivery dates.
Estimate theoretical strip length using nominal thickness, width and net coil weight. Useful for roll-forming plans, conversion estimates and procurement discussions.
Basis: nominal carbon steel density 7.85 g/cm³. kg/m = thickness (mm) × width (mm) × 0.00785. Length (m) = net coil kg ÷ kg/m. Actual dimensions, thickness variation, coil tail/head conditions and invoiced net weight may change the result. Packaging and coil-eye dimensions are excluded.
Hot rolling reduces steel slabs into flat strip, followed by controlled coiling. Order thickness, width, grade, surface and final coil weight influence the mill schedule and downstream handling plan.
Coordinate grade requirements, production availability and logistics with a dedicated steel supply team.
Actual annual production scale across BAOSTEEL METAL's overall steel business—not a Q235B-specific output claim.
Manufacturing ↗Company-wide steel inventory. Confirm Q235B coil availability separately by thickness, width and coil weight.
Steel Inventory ↗Agree the MTC, heat identification, mechanical results and any additional inspection before dispatch.
Quality Control ↗Consolidate product details, handling limits, packaging and delivery terms within one project enquiry.
Specify the downstream form needed for your factory line. Services are evaluated by coil size, ordered quantity, tolerance and facility availability.
Request narrower coils for tubing, roll-forming and precision feed lines, with defined width tolerance and edge finish.
Convert hot rolled coil into flat sheets based on a length and flatness schedule.
Ask about prepared-surface supply when additional scale removal or short-term handling protection is needed.
Attach your processing drawing or specifications in the RFQ.
Define the technical acceptance plan with your purchase order. Review grade identification, heat analysis, mechanical testing and dimensional checks for the agreed product scope.
Send the required thickness, finished width and tonnage to check an appropriate Q235B HRC supply route. We will confirm mill or stock-origin details, lot sizes and an order-specific lead time.
The company's regular 1 million MT inventory refers to the total steel business, not guaranteed availability of every Q235B coil dimension.
Steel Inventory ↗Export planning begins with coil net weight, handling limits and destination. Request appropriate steel strapping, edge protection and moisture-control measures for transport and unloading conditions.
Compare the ordered standards, strength and processing characteristics before choosing another grade. Similar grades are not automatic equivalents.
Clear answers for buyers preparing an order specification, coil schedule or mill test document list.
GB/T 700-2006 identifies the Q235B structural carbon steel grade. GB/T 3274-2017 addresses hot-rolled plate, sheet and strip products, while GB/T 709-2019 addresses relevant dimensions and tolerances. GB/T 3524-2015 may apply to products within its narrower hot-rolled steel strip scope.
Coil is delivered as wound strip for decoiling, slitting, forming or cut-to-length processing. Plate is supplied flat. Product dimensions, surface, edge condition and accepted test requirements vary with the ordered product form.
These grades may be considered in similar general structural applications, but chemical, test, mechanical and product standard requirements differ. Obtain engineering approval and verify the applicable certificate before substitution.
Slit coil and cut-to-length requests can be reviewed using your target finished width, tolerance, edge condition, coil ID and order quantity. Confirm processing availability as part of the quotation.
For nominal carbon steel density 7.85 g/cm³, calculate kg per meter as thickness in mm × width in mm × 0.00785. Divide the net coil weight in kilograms by the result to estimate strip length in meters. Actual net weight and thickness variation affect the final length.
